Department Symbols
My final designs for a project where I had to come up with a set of symbols for Drawing, Photography and Colour Theory Departments. For this project we could not use colour or text in our symbols. I regret not playing with some of the stroke sizes, the compass legs in particular on the black and white sample look a little weak.

Squeezing in the painting
So this year I started at Waikato University taking a course in Computer Graphic Design. So far it has been massively time consuming and mainly focused on the principles of design. Loving the after hour access and other services provided by the Uni. At some points you find the papers don't go as in depth into the subject as you would like but at least the resources are there for you to do your own research into what it is that you wish to learn.
So far I have been getting my kicks and giggles out of the History paper. It has always taken me a while to fully appreciate some of the odd trends in art and design that have swept over regions of the world. Getting the chance to look into the background of these trends and the times they were popular really opens your eyes to the why.
Just recently we were given an assignment to write an essay on a design from the long 19th century. My pick was the Moët & Chandon White Star poster by Alphonse Mucha: Link
The assignment also required us to design a cover page in the style of the chosen design/designer. Having been to busy to be able to really touch my Wacom over the last half semester I decided to go nuts on this one, illustrating a sensual picture of me innocently walking though a mystical forest wearing skimpy shorts and looking much like a virgin ripe for the plucking. I'm sure my tutor will appreciate it and maybe overlook some of my sloppy essay writing.
